Cherry Street, Grand Rapids, Michigan
Size: 10,150 SF
The Cherry Street Brewery Project is part of a mixed-use, LEED certified development located in the Fairmont Square Historic District. The approximately 12,000 square foot project consists of the renovation of a historic chapel and warehouse into an upscale brew pub, named Brewery Vivant, and on-site brewery. The one-acre parcel located at 925 Cherry Street served as a daycare center for employees of Spectrum Health before its renovation. Various local, state and federal tax incentives were utilized for this project, including historic tax credits and the Brownfield redevelopment credit.
The restaurant combines the owner’s passion for great beer and food, environmental sustainability and a community focus. The owner intends to source ingredients from local farmers for both beer and food served at the pub. Brewery Vivant will brew and package Belgian- and French-inspired beer within one of the site’s newly renovated buildings and serve its beer in a 140-seat pub and outdoor seating area adjacent to the production area.
